Awake the Lakes “Where Summer Begins and the Fun Never Ends” is a Memorial Day Weekend festival that includes activities for the entire family.
Friday kicks off the weekend with the popular Rib Fest and Beer Garden and music until midnight on 2nd Avenue.
Saturday starts with the Runestone Museum’s popular Breakfast with Big Ole. Heritage Fest, in its third year celebrates the cultural diversity that exists and is developing in Douglas County. A new feature for this year’s event is a Native American Honorum (Pow Wow). Saturday also features plenty of water fun, sponsored by the Douglas County Lakes Association and the popular Show N Shine Car Show,
Sunday activities include a Worship Service at City Park, a Boat Parade and the Habitat for Humanity Motorcycle Ride.
Monday features a pancake breakfast and the annual Memorial Day parade honoring military veterans and those currently serving in active or reserved duty.
